THE CONCERTMASTERS · SVETLIN ROUSSEV, violin

Gega New Music Company and Classic FM Radio have begun releasing a new CD series "The Concertmasters", aiming to present Bulgarian composers - concertmasters of leading European orchestras. The albums will contain live recordings of the concerts, organised by Classic FM Radio during the season 2002-2003. The first concert took place in November 2002 with soloist Svetlin Roussev - a young and very perspective musician. He studied at the School of Music in Rousse, Bulgaria, and then he continued his musical education in France in the violin classes of Gerard Poulet, Devi Erlich and Jean-Jacques Kantorow. He also attended the master classes of Mincho Minchev, Yfrah Neaman, Regis Pasquier and Pavel Vernikov. He is holder of numerous awards from prestigious international competitions in Europe, the USA, Australia, and Japan. Mr. Roussev has performed as soloist with famous European, American and Japanese orchestras, as well as with all Bulgarian orchestras. At present he is leading musician of the Auvergne Chamber Orchestra ( Clermont-Ferrand, France ) and was also invited as guest concertmaster of the London Philharmonic.

Another performer in the concert is a young and talented musician - the pianist Georgi Cherkin. He graduated the Pancho Vladigerov State Academy of Music in Bulgaria and after that he specialized at the Academia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and at the Salzburg Mozarteum. He is laureate of some international European competitions. He had successful concert appearances in Rome, Hamburg, Salzburg, Okinawa, as well as in the Bulgarian towns of Varna, Burgas, Shumen, Rousse, Plovdiv, and Sofia. The main performing orchestra in all Classic FM Radio concerts is the Youth Chamber Orchestra of the radio. The orchestra members were selected by two world-famous musicians - violinist Mincho Minchev and British cellist Robert Cohen. Leader of the orchestra is Lyudmil Nenchev. Since its first performing season (2002-2003) the orchestra proved to be a necessary and equal partner of many famous guest soloists.
