Gega New music house is starting to release a series of programmes “Bulgarian Musical Heritage”. The purpose is to bring back to our memory the creative achievements of some artists and composers who have left a lasting mark not only in Bulgarian, but also in world culture. This musical elite includes Sofia String Quartet of the Bulgarian National Radio. It began its concert career as Quartet Valchev in 1973, and in 1985 it was renamed to Sofia Quartet.
In its repertoire Sofia Quartet included music from all ages and styles and a great part of it has been recorded by the musicians.
The present programme includes recordings made in 1989 and 1991 and features works by Haydn and Shostakovich
